So yeah, I finished off my Glenfiddich 12 last week, which left me without a scotch. Got paid, thought about it for a bit, and I had always wanted to try an Islay, so I figured that I'd get a good one. I got a bottle of 15-year Laphroaig, and I took it home after work, and after uncorking it, only then does it dawn on me that I've got a head cold, so it won't taste like much if I can't smell anything.
So, I kinda got all let down, but then I poured a little bit anyways - like half a finger. Still pretty damn good.
I think next weekend I'm gonna buy a big 1.75L of Black Label so I'll have something I can drink and not feel bad about.

The 15 year is best, even better than the more expensive 21 or 30. But even the 12 is splendiferous.
I'd also like to track down a place that sells Loch Lomond... because I was an avid Tintin reader when I was a kid.
Dunno about the Loch Lomond. Lemme know what you think.
Oh that's right you still had that whole fifth we bought. Bugger. Oh well I'll have to check out that other laph-whatever. It's scary how fast I have come to trust your whiskey tastes.

The Laphroiag is really damned good, but I drink it very sparingly just because it's so expensive. I think I'm gonna take a trip to Binny's this weekend and see what I should try in the future.
They've got two whole aisles of whisky - one of Scotch, and another of bourbon/rye/Irish/etc whiskies. You'd like it.

The 1.5L ones are about $50, but it'd take a while to get through that.
